Hearing aids that fit your life, and your budget.

Independent advice across every major brand, helping you find the right hearing aid.

Healthcare with heart

Most people arrive here after years of managing. Turning the TV up. Asking people to repeat themselves. Nodding along and hoping for the best.

What comes next should be straightforward.

Knox Audiology is independently owned and not aligned to any hearing aid manufacturers, which means every major brand is genuinely on the table. Recommendations are based on your hearing, lifestyle and your budget. With no pressure or agenda, just honest advice from a team that has been caring for hearing health in Melbourne’s east for more than 30 years.

How it works

Helping you find the best outcome

Hearing assessment

We start with a full hearing assessment to understand your hearing, lifestyle and what matters most to you. No two people are the same, and neither are the devices we recommend.

Your recommendation

Your audiologist will guide you through suitable options across multiple brands and price points. It’s worth bringing a partner, family member or close friend to this appointment, as there’s a lot of information to take in. You will be given time to consider the options, without pressure to make a decision on the spot.

Fitting

Once you’re fitted with your chosen hearing aids, you’ll take them home and experience sound in real life over a two-week period. You will check in with your audiologist as many times as needed to make adjustments to help ensure everything feels right in everyday situations

The Choice is yours to make

If you decide within 30 days that hearing aids are not for you, there is absolutely no obligation to continue. The choice is always yours.

How much do hearing aids cost in Australia?

Hearing aids are available across a wide range of price points, from entry-level options through to premium technology. The right option depends on your hearing needs, lifestyle and preferences. Private health fund rebates and Australian Government Hearing Services Program assistance may also reduce costs for eligible clients, so the best way to understand your options is through a hearing assessment.

Do I need a referral to get hearing aids?

No referral is needed to book a hearing assessment or hearing aid appointment. A hearing assessment is required first because hearing aids are fitted to your specific hearing loss profile and listening needs. If you are eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, we can sign you up on the day and claim your benefits.

How long does it take to adjust to hearing aids?

Most people adjust to hearing aids within a few weeks, although everyone’s experience is different. Your brain needs time to relearn sounds it may not have heard clearly for some time. Follow-up appointments and adjustments are an important part of helping hearing aids feel comfortable and natural.

Can I try hearing aids before buying?

Yes. A trial and fitting fee applies, however, the trial fee is fully deducted from the purchase price if you decide to go ahead with hearing aids. If you decide hearing aids are not right for you, there is no obligation to continue.

Can Knox Audiology fit hearing aids I purchased elsewhere?

Yes. If you have hearing aids purchased elsewhere that need fitting or adjustment, a fitting fee of $1,500 applies. This covers a full assessment and fitting service to ensure your existing devices are configured correctly for your hearing profile.

Are hearing aids covered by private health insurance?

Many private health funds contribute towards the cost of hearing aids, although the amount depends on your level of cover and provider. Bringing your health fund details to your appointment allows us to assist you with checking your entitlements during your appointment. HICAPS may be available for on-the-spot claiming for some health funds.

What is the Hearing Services Program?

The Hearing Services Program is an Australian Government program that helps eligible Australians access subsidised hearing services and hearing devices. Eligibility is generally based on age, concession card status or veteran status. If you are unsure whether you qualify, please ask us when booking your appointment.

How often do hearing aids need replacing?

Most hearing aids are replaced every five to seven years, although this varies depending on the device, technology and how well it is maintained. Regular servicing, adjustments and check-ups can help extend the life and performance of your hearing aids. Ongoing support is an important part of getting the most from your hearing technology.
