As you may know, many newer hearing aids released in the last couple of years have the ability to connect wirelessly to smart phones. This allows the wearer to take phone calls and listen to music or even watch videos on their phone with the sound or speakers voice streaming directly to their hearing aids. What you may not know, is that with these hearing aids, it is possible to have an appointment with your audiologist remotely!

Depending on the type of hearing aids, your audiologist can set up remote care sessions for you. This means you can have an appointment, and have adjustments made to your hearing aids all from the comfort of your own home or workplace. No need to come into the clinic! With the current Covid19 pandemic this is a very relevant service and means you do not need to leave home if you need an adjustment made. This is especially important if you do have any health concerns.

So how does this work? Prior to doing any type of remote session, your audiologist will need to set it up for you. To complete a remote session your compatible smart phone needs to be connected via Bluetooth to the appropriate hearing aids. You will also need an app downloaded to your phone.

This app will depend on the type and brand of your hearing aids. You also need to have a strong Wi-Fi connection. Once you are ready to go you just open your remote support app, connect your hearing aids, and wait for your audiologist to join from their clinic. You will be able to see, hear and talk to your audiologist on your phone screen and they will be able to see, hear and talk to you on their computer screen. The exact process of the connection/set up again may differ depending on the brand of your hearing aids, however your audiologist can go through this with you over the phone prior to completing any remote support sessions.

If you are not sure whether or not your current hearing aids have this function available, or if you would like to upgrade to hearing aids which are capable of remote support do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly audiologists on 9800 5697 or 9839 3350.
